    Dr Garuth Chalfont

Garuth Chalfont, PhD designed and built engaging outdoor spaces in dementia care environments, and trained residents, staff and families how to use and enjoy the benefits of the natural world www.chalfontdesign.com. As a health researcher at Lancaster University for 7 years, he investigated and published the benefits of nature and holistic health (mind-body-spirit) as well as multiple non-drug approaches to dementia prevention. Through his Dementia Pioneers talks and workshops, which began in 2015, he transforms published research evidence into culturally relevant lifestyle changes. While evidence clearly supports dementia prevention, it is now showing that if caught early enough (and if healing protocols are carefully followed) we may even begin to reverse the symptoms known as dementia.

    Rachel Yates Hoyles

I have worked in health and social care for 20 years and been a dementia coach for the last 7 years. During this time, I have worked in specialist dementia teams across the UK, gained a BSc in Health and Social care and gained comprehensive knowledge, skills and networks which supports the best evidence-based practice in dementia care. I offer training on many dementia topics and provide one to one and group coaching for families and professionals who support people living with dementia. I have been working with the team at Unique since 2018 and host 1:1 and team sessions with the staff on supporting their mental health at work; and providing dementia and End of life training.

    Anna Reddy

I feel really fortunate to be working with Unique Homecare to support the unique care they provide to their clients. My role involves empowering, motivating and educating the amazing carers at UHC, to use food as a way to nourish, nurture and create positive connection with their clients.  The workshops I run include learning more about nutrition and its impact on both physical & mental health. We also get cooking and create team collaboration. As a result of UHC valuing the importance of nutrition, the idea of “Cooking Care” from Andrew Parnell, was born, embraced and implemented. We now go one step further to offer clients an amazing cooking experience with their carers or family & friends.
